a mad tea party.
I recently hosted a little tea party to chit-chat with some lovely ladies about a very exciting new project in the works. But more about that later… let’s talk dessert, people! I wanted to create a tableau of cocktails and sweets that were a feast for both the eyes and tastebuds. This is what I came up with: grapefruit martinis, a platter of fresh raspberries and watermelon, saucers of salted caramel and fluffy whipped cream, lavender hot chocolate (recipe here), cloud-like lemon meringue pie, dishes of cherry gelato garnished with berries and fragrant flowers, and lastly, a scattering of little rosebuds and stems of lavender from the garden . . . xoxo

We’ve all seen this decadent and delicious film but did you know there was a book?! It was such a treat to flip through all these beautiful images and decorate them with my own frou frou costume jewelry. The film’s screenplay is interspersed with the photographs and there’s also a lovely forward written by Sofia Coppola herself! Get the book here.

My friends always make fun of me for liking “cute food,” which I suppose is only natural considering my obsession with miniature perfumes, miniature mini-bar bottles, and anything else that Tinkerbell would probably have in her house. Anyway, back to business. Using a slightly modified version of this recipe and with a little help from — wait for it — “miniature” water balloons, I made these darling bite-sized chocolate cups, filled them with mint chip ice cream, and then adorned them with fresh mint leaves. They were so simple and quick to prepare, and they make for an inventive dessert dish when you are rushed for time. xo
